SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio
Domestic violence: Van Aken Boulevard
At 10:35 p.m. July 28, officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Van Aken Boulevard, where a 74-year-old Shaker Heights woman and her husband, also 74, reported that their son, a Cleveland man, 39, had assaulted them.
The son, who had been drinking and had been barred by a court order from being at his parents’ home, pushed them down and threatened to harm them before leaving.
Officers located the man in Cleveland and arrested him for domestic violence and violating a temporary protection order.
Theft: Grenway Road
At 8:35 a.m. July 27, officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Grenway Road, where a Shaker Heights woman, 46, reported finding personal property around her residence that did not belong to her or her family.
Officers connected the property to another residence in the same area and learned that approximately $600 worth of property had been stolen from that other home during the nighttime hours.
Menacing: Chagrin Boulevard
At 8:45 a.m. July 27, officers were dispatched to the Rite Aid store at 20405 Chagrin Blvd., where the manager reported that a suspect had stolen a bottle of Gatorade valued at $2.99.
When challenged by the manager about the theft, the man threatened to return to the store and do harm.
Officers detained the man, 33, of Cleveland, recovered the stolen property and arrested him for theft and menacing.
Warrant arrest: Lee Road
At 3:05 p.m. July 27, officers observed a Chevrolet vehicle traveling well above the posted speed limit in the area of Lee Road and Chagrin Boulevard.
A traffic stop was conducted and it was learned that the driver, a Cleveland woman, 20, was wanted by Shaker Heights police for carrying a concealed weapon.
Officers confirmed the warrant and arrested the woman.
Warrant arrest: Farnsleigh Road
At 4:25 p.m. July 27, officers stopped a Jeep vehicle that displayed expired license plates while in the area of Farnsleigh and Walker roads.
It was learned that the driver, a Cleveland man, 22, was wanted by Cleveland police for domestic violence.
Officers confirmed the warrant and surrendered the man to Cleveland police officers.
Warrant arrest: Van Aken Boulevard
At 11:10 p.m. July 27, officers observed a 28-year-old Cleveland man on the premises, after hours, of the Shaker Heights Public Library, 16500 Van Aken Blvd.
Officers detained the man and learned that he was wanted in Shaker Heights for a probation violation. Officers arrested the man.
OVI: Chagrin Boulevard
At 2 a.m. July 28, officers observed the driver of a Hyundai vehicle using a cell phone while driving on Chagrin Boulevard.
Police conducted a traffic stop, smelled alcohol and noticed that the driver, an Akron woman, 26, was impaired.
The woman failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for OVI.
She submitted a breath-alcohol sample of .246, well above the state minimum for drunk driving of .08. She was additionally charged with having a prohibited BAC.
Harassing communications: Warrensville Center Road
At 10:30 a.m. July 28, officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Warrensville Center Road, where a Shaker Heights woman, 23, reported that a man, a former friend, had sent harassing text messages to her cell phone.
Theft: Lindholm Road
At 12:15 p.m. July 28, a Cleveland woman, 33, who was working as an Uber driver, reported that an unknown female suspect whom she had dropped off on Lindholm Road in Shaker Heights had stolen her wallet.
The victim reported that she had been notified by her bank that $102.22 worth of goods had been purchased using the credit cards stolen from her wallet.
Disrupting public services: Chelton Road
At 3:25 p.m. July 28, officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Chelton Road, where a Shaker Heights woman reported that her landlord, a Westlake man, 70, had cut the wires to her utilities, interrupting her service.
Police cited the landlord for disrupting public services.
Attempted auto theft: Coventry Road
At 6:40 p.m. July 28, officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Coventry Road, where a 23-year-old Vermillion woman, who had been visiting relatives, reported that someone had damaged the window and steering column of her 2011 Kia vehicle.
Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $5,000.
Having a weapon under disability: Lomond Boulevard
At 9:30 p.m. July 28, officers observed the driver of a Chevrolet vehicle commit a stop sign violation at the intersection of Lomond Boulevard and Townley Road.
Police stopped the vehicle and learned that the driver, a Cleveland man, 34, was wanted by Cleveland Heights police.
The man possessed a loaded firearm under his front seat. Officers secured the firearm, which had been reported stolen.
It was also learned that the man had been previously convicted of a felony offense and could not legally own a gun.
Officers arrested the man for having a weapon under disability and receiving stolen property.
Property damage: Lee Road
At 1:45 p.m. July 29, police arrested a Cleveland Heights man, 31, after he purposely damaged the front doors of the Shaker Heights Municipal Building, 3355 Lee Road.
Police arrested the man without incident.
Theft: Chagrin Boulevard
At 5:55 p.m. July 29, loss prevention at Heinen’s grocery store, 16611 Chagrin Blvd., reported that a suspect had stolen $83.11 worth of over-the-counter drugs and left the store.
Officers located the suspect, a Garfield Heights man, 61, and arrested him for theft.
OVI: Lee Road
At 12:35 a.m. July 30, officers were dispatched to the area of Lee Road and South Park Boulevard to investigate a car crash involving a Subaru and a Nissan.
Officers called for medical help and approached the Subaru driver, a South Euclid man, 32. The man smelled of alcohol and was later found to be intoxicated.
Police arrested the man for OVI. He had a blood-alcohol content of .199, and was further charged with having a prohibited BAC.
Property damage: Avalon Road
At 7:35 a.m. July 30, officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Avalon Road, where an apartment building manager reported that two unknown, younger-looking male suspects had entered the secured building by damaging a door lock.
Damage to the property was estimated at $200.
Drug possession: Chagrin Boulevard
At 2:50 p.m. July 30, officers observed a Chevrolet vehicle operating with a loud muffler in the area of Chagrin Boulevard and Warrensville Center Road.
Officers searched for licensing information and learned that the car’s driver/owner, a Cleveland Heights woman, 48, did not have a valid license.
Police stopped the vehicle and saw inside suspected narcotics in and around the woman. Officers arrested the woman for possession of drugs.
OVI: Warrensville Center Road
At 11:35 p.m. July 30, officers observed a Buick vehicle traveling erratically in the area of Fairmount Circle and Warrensville Center Road.
Officers stopped the vehicle and learned that the driver, a Cleveland man, 58, did not have a valid license and appeared to be impaired.
The man failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for OVI. He was further cited for refusing to take a breath test while having a prior OVI conviction on his record.
